Theistic Darwinist voluntarily has his penis removed. Ouch!
Joan Roughgarden had some nasty words to say about ID in her book: Evolution and Christian Faith: Reflections of an Evolutionary Biologist
She was the daughter of Episcopalian Missionaries and then returned to the Christian faith after many trials in her life. It appears however that amidst her piety she has some peculiarities. It turns out that in 2003, in the prestigious scientific journal Nature, Joan confessed that once upon a time she was a man. Yikes!
Five years ago, at the age of 52, Roughgarden — then known as Jonathan — surprised colleagues by undergoing a sex change.
Will other Darwinists follow suit and have themselves neutered like Roughgarden? How about it PZ or Ed Brayton, or the boys at ATBC? Of course, this will inhibit the passing of their genes, and thus, such Darwinists evidence themselves as being biologically unfit. The irony is that with a high incidence of homosexuality in Darwinian circles, they demonstrate themselves to be biologically unfit. In any case:
Some researchers — many of them women — began documenting animal examples of female promiscuity as long ago as the 1970s. Many were simply ignored, or else marginalized as ‘feminist’ thinkers. “They weren’t heard and couldn’t find a place in the system,” laments Roughgarden, who acknowledges that her own experiences of discrimination have driven her to rail against such injustices. “My experience has given me an edge and motivation to speak up that someone who has not been so stigmatized may not feel so keenly,” she says.
Roughgarden traces the epiphany that led to Evolution’s Rainbow back to her participation in a gay-rights parade in San Francisco, shortly before her transition. “Looking at all these people, I knew biology — my field — said these people were impossible,” she says. The conclusion, for Roughgarden, was inescapable: “These people aren’t wrong, it’s the theory that’s wrong.”
So began Roughgarden’s move into the arena of sexual selection,
Oddly her penis removal made her/him/it realize that Darwin’s theory was wrong. Perhaps if she read Behe’s books and understood them, she would have been spared having to learn the hard way that Darwin was wrong…
One interesting note:
When it comes to the discrimination that she experienced at Stanford after her [sex change] transition, however, Roughgarden is more forthcoming.
Roughgarden learned how men and women are treated differently in the workplace. A peculiar irony is that I’ve found women ascenting to this on occasion. For example, I ask girls, “all things equal, would you rather have a male boss or a female boss?” I’ve been surprised how many women say they want a man!
Ok let me put it in other terms: you’re a beautiful 24-year-old girl. You have a choice:
1. A male boss who has a lovely wife and family
2. A female boss who is 50 years old
Who will you choose? I’ve found that the beautiful 24-year-olds will generally realize an old female boss might have many hidden jealousies, the male boss will be more desirable in various ways, even if she wouldn’t think of crossing appropriate boundaries.
Conversely, you’re a guy, intelligent and ambitious, who would you like as your boss given the above. I can tell you, a lot of guys would be inclined to think the man will be a better leader to lead them into battle. Is this innate? I’ll leave that to the scientist to figure out, but that’s where things stand as of today….
I’m sure my statements are controversial, but it is subject to empirical investigation. We can poll men and women with the question, “who would you prefer as your boss?”
In any case, John’s decision to part ways with his private parts is suggestive of the strange world that evolutionary biologists live in….

LOL…Lordy Sal, you’re gonna tick some people off with that post!
I’ll give my opinion about the male/female boss issue though.
I worked for a large corporation for many years. Cut throat environment…everyone strangling each other trying to get promoted. The place was like a soap opera, and the women were much worse than the men as far as gossiping, etc. Sometimes it felt like you were working with a group of children due to all the whining and bellyaching.
When I decided to have kids, I opted to take a less stressful job so I worked for a much smaller company where there were about 100 men and just a few of us women. Loved it. Men aren’t as bitchy and nasty as women can get under stress, and when men are pissed off about something, it’s out in the open immediately. They blow off steam and then the air is cleared. Women often become spiteful, hold a grudge, tell everyone who will listen how pissed off they are about something, etc..
I’ve noticed this in the church as well. I’d much rather have men running the church than women.
Now, I will say I’m probably anything but a “submissive” wife. I’m pretty head strong and very independent, but my husband is a pillar of strength for me and my family. I don’t mind the idea of the man being the head of the household, and honestly I think our kids today would be much better off if their Mother’s were at home with them as they grow up rather than having their Mom making a fortune at her work place. But, with the economy the way it is these days, most of us have to work to pay the bills.
Oh, and as for neutering the ATBC boys…hey, I’m all for it.
Something else to think about is the fact that Dawkins, et. al. keep saying they want to eradicate religion, but many religious folks are the ones who reject the option to abort their young and they tend to have larger families than their secular counterparts, so it would seem that natural selection will play in our favor. Though, if PZ has his way, he’ll convert all those poor ignorant religious children during biology class.
